Ashley Carroll, M.S.

College of Charleston

Ashley Carroll is an adjunct professor in the Department of Mathematics at the College of Charleston. She covers Statistical Thinking, Descriptive Statistics, and Probability.

She earned her Masters of Science (M.S.) in Mathematics and Statistics from the College of Charleston, and her Bachelors of Science in Industrial Engineering from Clemson University.

Ashley’s areas of research include: Operations research, process improvement, and optimization. Additionally, she has practical experience consulting in several different industries including aerospace, automotive, and consumer products — all of which contribute to her real-world applicable approach to teaching statistics.

Olanrewaju Michael Akande, Ph.D.

Duke University

Olanrewaju Michael Akande is a professor in the Department of Statistical Science at Duke University. He covers Discrete Random Variables, Continuous Random Variables & The Random Variables, The Central Limit Theorem.

He earned both his Ph.D. in Statistical Science and his Masters of Science (M.S.) in Statistical and Economic Modeling from Duke University.

Michael’s areas of research include: Bayesian modeling, models for editing erroneous data, multiple imputation, missing data, mixture models, and hierarchical modeling. He is focused on developing statistical methodology for handling missing and faulty data, with particular emphasis on applications that intersect with the social sciences.

Outside of work, Michael enjoys playing and watching soccer, reading, playing video games, listening to music, and traveling. He’s also become a bit of an NBA fanatic and intends to do some NBA-related research in the near future.

Gregory Matthews, Ph.D.

Loyola University Chicago

Gregory Matthews is a tenured professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Loyola University Chicago. He covers Confidence Intervals, Hypothesis Testing With One Sample, Hypothesis Testing With Two Means.

He earned his Ph.D. in Statistics from the University of Connecticut, and also earned his Masters of Science (M.S.) in Applied Statistics from Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI).

Gregory’s areas of research include: Statistical disclosure control, missing data methods, statistical genetics, and statistics in sports.

AnnMaria De Mars, Ph.D.

AnnMaria De Mars is the President and Founder of both The Julia Group and 7 Generation Games. She covers Categorical Data Analysis: The Chi-Square Distribution, and Linear Regression, Correlation, F-Distribution and One Way ANOVA within this course.

She earned her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of California, Riverside, specializing in Applied Statistics and Tests & Measurements. She also earned her MBA from the University of Minnesota.

AnnMaria has been focused on helping students learn mathematics and statistics in innovative ways for the past 30 years. Currently with 7 Generation Games this is done by creating mathematical games that help underperforming students reach their grade level in mathematics. For her great work in this area, AnnMaria was named as one of Forbes “40 Women to Watch Over 40” in 2013.
